About

Merch Kitchen is a textile screen printing shop located on the south side of Nashville, TN. We try to keep everything simple and straightforward; the guy that owns the company is generally in the garage doing the work. Music is a big part of the Merch Kitchen story. We’ve spent years on the road playing in independent bands, and today are dedicated to helping bands (and not bands!) of all sizes that need affordable merch.

2011

Merch Kitchen started in a small bedroom on Eagle Street in Murfreesboro, TN on a minimal budget. After a few months of hectic after-work and weekend printing, owner and primary operator Ross Winchel quit his full time job to pursue screenprinting full time, and Merch Kitchen would soon overtake most of the house (including the kitchen).

2013-2014

Merch Kitchen moved to a dedicated garage workspace. Near the end of 2013, we took out a loan and purchased a commercial grade Workhorse 6 color press, the same press we still use today. This crucial upgrade substantially upped both the quality of our prints, and the efficiency of the Merch Kitchen operation as a whole.

In 2014, we signed a lease and moved into a commercial warehouse location in East Nashville, with the intent to further expand.

2015-present

After a year in the commercial building, Ross concluded that continuing the shop on a smaller scale was the best move for not only the business itself, but also his lifestyle and personal goals. Since late-2015, Merch Kitchen has operated out of a private print house in South Nashville. The print shop is located in a dedicated garage, with an office adjoining a band jam space.

Over the years Merch Kitchen has printed merch for hundreds(thousands?) of independent bands, as well as national touring bands and companies including: Lost Dog Street Band, Bad Brains, Slipknot, Jay Weinberg, Apes of the State, Knoll, Deluxe Distribution, and Nextdoor.

In his free time, Ross enjoys long walks with his dog Leroy, cooking vegan food, and playing music. He currently plays in Hushhh, Thetan, and Woundflower.
